Mr. Billy Gene Astin, age 74, of Silver Creek, Georgia passed away Monday, March 24, 2008 at his residence. He was born July 16, 1933 in Polk County, Georgia, the son of the late Robert Boyd Astin and Mattie Lee Welchel Astin.

Mr. Astin is survived by wife, Shirley Fricks Astin; daughter, Deborah Astin Welchel; granddaughters, April Folsom and Brandy Hunsicker; great granddaughter, Lexi Folsom; great grandson, Tyler Hunsicker; brother, James L. Astin and sister, Matilda Allen of Tallahassee, FL.

Mr. Billy Gene Astin is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Martha Jo Astin Mull.

The funeral service for Mr. Billy Gene Astin will be conducted on Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of The Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Boatner and Rev. Billy Rampley officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hope Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 25 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Gammage Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Shane Chrisman, Keith Redden, Gary Mull, Todd Shepard, Jackie Miller, and Scott Shepard.
