Mrs. Betty Margaret Brown Holland, age 78, of Villa Rica, Georgia, formerly of Cedartown, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, August 03, 2011. She was born July 18, 1933 in Cedartown, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William (Bill) and Mary Hulsey Brown.
Mrs. Holland was raised in and lived the majority of her life in Cedartown. She married Charles W. Holland in 1949 and they remained together until his death in 1995.
Mrs. Holland moved to Villa Rica in 2005 to be closer to her grandchildren, but her heart remained in Polk County.
In addition to her husband, Charles, and her parents she is preceded in death by sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Herbert Johnson; step-grandson, Alan Moore.
Mrs. Holland is survived by daughters and their families: Alicia Holland and Dr. Kenneth Puryear of Visalia, California and Angie and James Hooker of Douglasville, Georgia; step-daughter, Jane Liveoak Frew and husband, Vance; sister, Lettie Swafford; three grandchildren, Matt Woods, Madison Woods and Alexa Hooker and two step- grandchildren, Tyler Moore and Ashley Moore. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Bill and his wife Lisa Johnson, Jill Johnson, Greg Swafford, Suzanne Swafford, and Leigh Ann Swafford.
The funeral arrangements for Mrs. Holland will be conducted on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at two o'clock in the afternoon in the chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with Rev. Earnest Thompson officiating and Mr. Bill Johnson delivering the eulogy.
Interment will follow in the Northview Cemetery.
The family of Mrs. Holland will receive family and friends on Friday, August 5, 2011 from six o'clock in the evening until nine o'clock in the evening at the Gammage Funeral Home.
The family will also be gathering and receiving friends at the Holiday Inn Express' conference room located on North Main St., Cedartown.
Pallbearers are Greg Swafford, Kyle Beck, Ronnie Tuck, Mike Beck, Don Woods, and Bob Worthington.
