Betty Jo Ammons, 66, passed away quietly at her home in Navarre, Florida, on Friday, January 4, 2008. Betty was born on December 29, 1941 in Temple, Georgia, but has resided in the Ft. Walton Beach, Mary Esther and Navarre areas for the past 32 years. She spent 20 years as an Air Force wife and was a manager for Tom Thumb Food Stores from which she retired.

Mrs. Ammons is preceded in death by her husband, Richard A. Ammons and her father, Clarence Ray Cole. She is survived by her mother, Bernice Virginia Cole of Pensacola; brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Patsy Cole of Cedartown; daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia and Rick Patrick and Carol and Mark Brockett of Mossy Head, Florida, ; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard Jr. and Jackie Ammons of Navarre Florida, and Michael and Theresa Ammons of Mary Esther, Florida; grandchildren, James Patrick, Jr., Jason Patrick, Jessica and Husband Matt Hicks, Andrew Marthis, Joshua Patrick Herbert Marthis, Laura Cooper, Richard Ammons III, Samuel Ammons, David Ammons and Nicholas Ammons; great grandchildren, Andrew Marthis II, Michael Aaron Cooper II, Breanna Marthis, Gabriel Colen Ashley, Cutter Hardee, Matthew Hicks, and James Patrick III.

Betty loved gardening, crochet, reading books, crossword puzzles and being with and doing for her family. She was full of life; a Mother and a friend to all who knew her. Saying she will be missed is an understatement. There is a void in the lives of all who knew her that we will fill with all of the great memories we share of her.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 10, 2008 at the Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens at 1985 W. Nine Mile Rd., Pensacola, Florida with Rev. Tim Duffey officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 9, 2008 from 5 to 6 p.m. for family members and 6 to 8 p.m. for friends, also at Eastern Gate.
