Mrs. Bernice Cantrell Mitchell, age 90, of Cedartown, GA, passed away on October 3rd, 2026. She was a lifelong resident of the Lake Creek Community, born at home to her late parents Mr. Dewey Leonard Cantrell and Mrs. Lois Mullinax Cantrell.
She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband Mr. William Howard (Billy) Mitchell and her only sister Ellen Cantrell Moore.
At the time of her death, she was a member of Worldview Baptist Church and previously was a member of Lake Creek Baptist Church. She worked many years at Rome Plow Company.
She is survived by two nephews Gregory Lee Rowell and Gene Cantrell Moore (Shannon); two stepsons Tony Mitchell (Tammy) and Timothy Lee Mitchell (Celia); one step grandson Brett Mitchell (Kiersten); two step granddaughters London Mitchell and Kynlee Mitchell.
The family will receive family and friends Monday October 5th from 6-8pm, and the funeral service will be held in the chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home Tuesday October 6th, 2026, at 11:00 in the morning with Rev. Doyle Kelley and Rev. Chris Hearne officiating. Interment will follow the service at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery alongside her husband.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Henry Runyon, Michael Womack, Jody Allred, Brett Mitchell.
The family respectfully requests that all floral arrangements be omitted, and that memorial contributions be made to Oak Grove Cemetery Fund or Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
