Obituary

Mrs. Atlas Bryant Tisher (also known as Alice) died on Tuesday, August 2, 2006 in Hampton Virginia. She was born in Fairmount, Georgia on April 16, 1913 and spent most of her life in Cedartown.

She was active in the First Baptist Church, the Woman's Club, the Garden Club, the Sewing Circle, and the Bridge Group. After the death of her husband, Glenn Huff, she moved to Auburn, Alabama where she was a housemother at the University. There she met and married Merrill I. Tisher from Little Rock, Arkansas and returned to Cedartown.

Mrs. Tisher is survived by a sister, Ovilee Bishop of Birmingham, AL and a brother, Fred Bryant of Cedar Bluff, AL, two daughters, Glenda H. Johnson of New Orleans, LA and Alicia H. Sport of Hampton VA, four grandsons, Dr. R. Hill Johnson (and wife Sarah) of Tucson, AZ, Glenn H. Johnson (and wife Jennifer) of Colorado Springs, CO, Kevin B. Sport of New York, NY and Kyle W. Sport of Richmond, VA and three great granddaughters, Maggie, Zoe, Victoria Johnson, as well as many nieces and nephews.

An informal memorial service will be held at Olin L. Gammage & Sons Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at 11:00 am with the Rev. Dave Grove officiating. The family will receive friends during visitation from 10:00 am until 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the City of Cedartown; Peek's Park Beautification Phase II; Post Office Box 65; Cedartown, GA 30125.
