Artie Mae Colston, 96, of 100 College Circle, Cedartown, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2006, after a brief illness at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama. She was born in Union County, Georgia, on December 30, 1909, to William Thomas and Fannie Shope Everett.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Lionel Franklin Colston, on March 31, 1998, and one son, James Ralph Colston. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Betty Onida Robinette and Ron Robinette, two granddaughters, Melanie Carol Robinette and Dori Robinette Lazenby, and a grandson-in-law, Christopher Blanton Lazenby, all of Hoover, Alabama, and several nieces and nephews.
She was a patriot who worked at the Charleston, South Carolina Naval Yard during World War II. She will be remembered as the owner and operator of Colston Sales Company of Cedartown, Geprgia and Shannon, Georgia. Artie Mae gained recognition for her graciousness and love for the Lord through her authored and published collection of works. She was a charter member of World View Baptist Church in Cedartown, Georgia.
The funeral service for Mrs. Colston will be held on Friday, December 1, 2006, at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of the Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home with Dr. Larry Conner officiating. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery in Rome, Georgia. After the Interment the family will gather at Suite Dreams; 226 Broad Street; Rome, Georgia
The Colston family will receive friends on Thursday, November 30th from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Gammage Funeral Home in Cedartown, Georgia.
Pallbearers will be her nephews and grandnephews.
