Mrs. Argris Evangeline Smith Stephens, age 95, of Cedartown passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2007. She was born August 8, 1912 in Polk County.

She is preceded in death by husband, James Ralph Stephens, Sr.; daughter, Margaret Ann Stephens; son, Daniel Stephens; son-in-law, Vernon Stephens; daughter-in-law, Cathy Stephens; great-grandson, Josh Stephens; great-granddaughter, Bridget Brown, and parents, George Smith and Lena Victoria Mullinax Smith.

Mrs. Argris Stephens is survived by sons, L. A.Stephens, Sr., Ralph Stephens, Jr., Darrell Stephens, Sr., and Earnest Stephens; daughters, Jeanette Stephens and Nancy Nix. Seventeen grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren also survive.

The family will receive friends on Monday, August 20 from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home.

The funeral service for Mrs. Argris Stephens will be conducted on Tuesday, August 21 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Reginald Campbell, Rev. Sammy Stephens, and Mr. Darrell Stephens, Sr. officiating. The interment service will follow at New Harmony Baptist Church cemetery.

Pallbearers are Darrell "Scooter" Stephens, Jr., Leamon Stephens, Billy Nix, Phil Stephens, Ed Sweezey, Doug Elkins, Ralph "Chip" Stephens III, James Stephens.

Honorary Pallbearers are Granddaughters: Darlene Smith, Brenda Elkins, Dinnette Sweezey, Cindy Brown, Theresa Evangeline Stapler, Renee Norman, Valerie Kelley, Andrea Lyle, Rhonda Landrum, and Amy Nix.
