Obituary

Mrs. Annie Lou Winkles Baldwin, age 90, of Rome, formerly of Cedartown, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2017. She was born on April 16, 1926 in Cedartown, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Clarence and Odessa Mitchell Winkles.

Mrs. Baldwin was a devoted Christian. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cedartown, and a member of their Sanctuary Choir as well as the Ruth Sunday School Class. She was a member of the local 49er's clogging group. This group, all over the age 49, traveled extensively and performed at many events. They once performed at Ocean Opry in Panama City, FL.

Mrs. Baldwin was retired as the activity director from Plantation South Assisted Living Center here in Cedartown and worked as a medical assistant to Dr. Don Schmidt, in Cedartown for 17 years.

Mrs. Baldwin was the loving mother of daughters, Jo Ann Shiflett (Wallace) and Connie Blalock (Charles); son, Ronnie Baldwin (Pam); sister, Hazel Winkles Purdy; grandchildren, Jeff Shiflett (Janie), LeAnne Landers (Scott), Joey Shiflett (April), Allyson Yourkievitz (Greg), Bryan Blalock (Wiyanna), Katie Crawford (Jeff) and Kellie Blackmon (Jonathan); 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Baldwin was the wife of the late Joseph Franklin (Jack) Baldwin of 50 years and the sister of the late George Howard Winkles.

The celebration of life for Mrs. Annie Lou Winkles Baldwin will be conducted on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at two o'clock in the afternoon in the chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Benefield and Rev. Jonathan Blackmon officiating. Interment will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

The family of Mrs. Baldwin will receive family and friends on Thursday, January 12, 2017 from twelve o'clock (noon) until the funeral hour at the Gammage Funeral Home.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Jeff Shiflett, Joey Shiflett, Bryan Blalock, Frank Winkles, Randy Winkles, David Purdy, Scott Landers and Steve Baldwin. Honorary pallbearers will be: Michael Purdy, Greg Yourkievitz, Frank Cook, Charles Sutton, Joe Sutton, Scott Brock, Chip Summerville, Terry Baldwin and the Ruth S.S. Class at FBC.
