Mr. Alver Richard "Ray" Raybun, age 79, of Cedartown, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2009. He was born in Tift County, Georgia on January 16, 1930.

Mr. Ray Raybun was a member of the Cedar Lake Christian Center. He was a member of the Exchange Club for many years having held officies of President, Secretary and Treasurer.

Mr. Raybun is preceded in death by parents, Isaac Richard Raybun and Trudy Mae Owens Raybun; Sisters, Trudy Louise and Margaret Cortez of Wynder; Brothers, Johnny Elbert of Cumming and Charles Emory of Leesburg, Florida.

He is survived by wife, Frances Walters Raybun; sons, Walter A. "Rusty" Raybun and Alver Richard "Ricky" Raybun II; Five Grandchildren, Destin Uriah Raybun, Katrina Lynn Raybun, Jordan Ashley Raybun, Ashley Kay Raybun, and Laura Kay Newton; Great Grandchild, Nina Sofie Raybun; and Brothers, Hubert Jackson of Tavares, Florida and Leonard Eldredge Rayburn of Shalimar, Florida.

The funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, January 31st at 3:00 p.m. at the Cedar Lake Christian Center with Bishop David Huskins officiating. Eulogy will be given by Mr. Ralph Kinnick and Mr. Gene Carey. The interment will be in Polk Memory Gardens.

Destin Raybun, Tony Carey, Jordan Raybun, Dick Wicker, Kenneth Green, and Scott Gibbs will be serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Carey, Ralph Kinnick, Preston Strickland, Olin Bates, and Maurice Randall.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 31st from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at the Cedar Lake Christian Center. At other times, the family can be contacted at the home of his son, Rusty Raybun at 442 Wissahickon Ave., Cedartown.

Flowers are being accepted; however, donations may be made to the Cedar Lake Christian Center, P. O. Box 687, Cedartown, GA 30125.
