Mrs. Alice Shackelford Stroup, age 89, of Cedartown, Georgia passed away at her residence on Monday, June 30, 2008 after an extended illness. She was born February 2, 1919 in Pike County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Charlie Shackelford and Ruby Parker Shackelford.

Family survivors include daughter, Annie Ruth (Cookie) Stroup; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Linda Stroup; sisters-in-law, Catherine Shackelford and Helen Stroup; brother, Tommy Shackelford of Alabama. Grandchildren, Buddy McKibben and Christopher Stroup; great-grandchildren, Hunter Stroup, Chaynne Stroup, and Josi McKibben also survive.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Stroup, and her parents and brothers, Ross Shackelford and Dub Shackelford.

The funeral service for Mrs. Alice Stroup will be conducted on Thursday, July 3, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home with Dr. Rodger Whorton officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Tim Green, Paul Bowman, Van Shackelford, Doug Davis, Lance Green, and John Ross Branch. Honorary Pallbearer is Hershel Wright.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 2, from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the Gammage Funeral Home.
