Mr. Alfred Shaw, Jr., age 71, of Cedartown passed away on Friday, October 22, 2010. He was born on October 23, 1938 in Cedartown, Georgia to the late Alfred Shaw, Sr. and Ola Mae Love Shaw. He is also preceded in death by his grandparent James M. & Susan Hutton Shaw and Charlie W. & Mary L. Love.

Mr. Shaw was a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1962 – 1964.

He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Cartersville after 43 years of service. He was also a member of the Floyd County Wildlife Association. He attended First Baptist Church of Cedartown.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Emily Crawford Shaw; son, Gregory Scott Shaw of Cedartown; two granddaughters, Angela Michelle Shaw and Brittany DeAnne Shaw of Roopville, Ga., and sister, Virginia Shaw of Carrollton.

The funeral service for Mr. Alfred Shaw, Jr. will be conducted on Sunday, October 24th, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Olin L. Gammage & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Benefield officiating and with niece Dondra Crawford as vocal soloist. Interment will follow in the Northview Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 24th, from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the Olin L. Gammage & Sons Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are C.E. David, Bob Temple, Robert Mann, Jimmy Crawford, Joey Johnson, Chris McCrory, and Blake Frazier.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 720, Cedartown, Ga. 30125.
