Mr. Alfred William Garrett, Jr., age 73, of Cedartown, passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2012. He was born on October 29, 1938 in Cedartown. He was the son of the late Alfred William Garrett, Sr. and Lillie Mae Mull Garrett.
He was a veteran having proudly served in the United States Navy and also a retiree from the General Electric Company.
Mr. Garrett is survived by his loving wife Mrs. Mary Frances Carter Garrett; sons and daughters-in-law, Will & Andrea Garrett and Adam & Karen Garrett; sister, Faye Meek; grandchildren, Lillie Garrett, Hannah Garrett, and Isabella Roberson Garrett; and nieces & nephews, Dena Tracy, Bob Tracy, and Tyler Tracy.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Inez Garrett.
The funeral arrangements for Mr. Alfred William Garrett, Jr. will be conducted on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at Eleven o'clock in the morning in the chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with Rev. Patrick Latham and Rev. Billy Frasier officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Brewster Cleveland Post 86 Honor Guard.
Interment will follow in the Northview Cemetery.
The family of Mr. Garrett will receive family and friends on Monday, June 18, 2012 from six o'clock in the evening until eight o'clock in the evening at the Gammage Funeral Home.
The family has requested that flowers be omitted; however, if desired memorial contributions may be made to the Second Baptist
Church of Cedartown, P. O. Box 826, Cedartown, GA 30125.
Pallbearers are Bob Tracy, Bobby Green, Clark Brumit, Stan McCord, Billy Frasier, Ray Brumit, Cleve Hartley. Honorary pallbearers are Bob Temple, Buster Puckett, T. A. Dempsey, John Bailey, Earl Kinne, Jimmy Smith.
