Obituary

Ms. Aleita Wanda Garner Brown, age 84, passed away on Friday, April 27, 2012. She was born on September 7, 1927 in Haralson County. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hobson John and Emma Kate Cosby Garner.

Ms. Brown was the wife of the late Oliver W. Brown to whom she was married to on May 15, 1948. She was preceded in death by her son, Leon Grover Brown. Others that preceded her death were her sisters, Mattie Lou Zabel, Betty Jo King and Carol Marie Stager and brothers, Clayte Garner, J.E. Garner and Blance Edward Garner.


Ms. Brown is survived by her sons and daughter-in-laws, Gerald Brown and Lori of Jacksonville, FL, Rev. Clifton Brown and Susan of Covington, GA and Chris Brown and Sheree of Cedartown, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Wanda Shuler and Steve of Racine, OH; sisters and brother-in-law, Mary Branch, Lenna Davidson, Irma Love and Imo Stephens and Jerold; grandchildren, Arnie Brown, Kevin Brown, Justin Brown, Chandra Agan, Leslie Gonzales, Miranda Ennis, Shea Brown, Jimmy Brown, Steve Brown, Darren Stephens, Jason Shuler, Vanessa Vance, Stephanie Hilyard, Brent Shuler, Adam Brown and Harley Brown; great-grandchildren, Amber Brown, Alexis Brown, Kylie Agan, Kaitlyn Agan, Scott Allen, Sawyer Brown, Chance Brown, Heaven Leigh Brown, Victorya Stephens, Austin Shuler, Avery Shuler, Aaron Vance, Elizabeth Shuler, Maddie Shuler, Jacob Shuler, Nicky Coleman, Caity Austin, Christy Duck, Jonathan Gonzales, Jayson Gonzales, Leah Gonzales and Jacob Gonzales and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Ms. Brown grew up in Haralson County; graduated from Tallapoosa High in 1945 before moving to Cedartown where she has lived since 1946. She was employed at Polk General Hospital for 27 years. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church, Ruth- Sunday School Class, W.M. U., adult choir and Senior Sonshine Club. Ms. Brown enjoyed her family. She was a loving wife, mother, granny and gran-gran. She was a good neighbor and friend to so many.

The funeral arrangements for Ms. Brown will be conducted on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at two o'clock in the afternoon in the chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with Rev. Joel Smith and Rev. Clifton Brown officiating.

Interment will follow in the Northview Cemetery.

The family of Ms. Brown will receive family and friends on Saturday, April 28, 2012 from four o'clock in the afternoon until eight o'clock in the evening at the Gammage Funeral Home.

The family is accepting flowers; however, memorial donations can be made in memory of Aleita Garner Brown to Little Creek School, Dr. Terrell McBrayer, 821 McPherson St., Bremen, GA 30110.

Her Grandsons are to serve as pallbearers.
